Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is one of the main attraction for visitors during public holidays. It has many interesting places that can be visited and explored such as museum, island, mounts & scenery and park. Have you ever been to Kota Kinabalu before? Mount Kinabalu

 

If you love to hike, Mount Kinabalu is the perfect place for you. Mount Kinabalu is the highest mountain in Malaysia and it has been listed in the 20th most prominent mountain in the world. The high of Mount KK is 4095 metre (13435 ft) above the sea level and it takes two days to reach the summit. But before that, you will need to take an overnight break at Laban Rata to recharge your energy. You need to be fit in order to accomplish your mission. However, no matter how tiring you are, the breathtaking view will make your forget all the hardships you went through. This may sound scary to those who never climb before but interesting to the real hikers. If you are wondering; “Is it safe to leave the car parked for two days?’’, “What if my personal belonging missing?”. Well, don’t worry! Once you parked your car, the guard will take care of it. Kundasang Dairy Cattle Farm

 

The next interesting place for you to visit is Kundasang Dairy Cattle Farm. The place is located in Mesilau, Sabah and it is 100km away from Kota Kinabalu. Most Sabahan people are growing up drinking the milk from Desa Dairy Farm. The entrance ticket will cost RM5 for adult and RM4 for children/student. To the newlywed that want to shoot their wedding photography are required to pay RM 106. The Desa Dairy Farm is well-known for its breathtaking scenery and the cows are Holstein Friesian cows imported from New Zealand, the highest milk producers of all cattle breeds. There are few activities that you can do with your family. In other words, it is an ideal destination where you can feed the calves with bottled milk, feed the goats with grass and learn on how milk is processed. If you are a milk lover, Desa Cattle Farm is the place for you. Not to forget, before leaving, you can buy some souvenirs; Desa Cattle’s milk in a box. Ice cream is a must because they are all made from milk!

Pulau Sapi, Kota Kinabalu

 

Among all of the famous islands in Kota Kinabalu, Sapi Island is the most voted by tourists as the best island. However, Sapi Island is quite small and it can be crowded during weekend. Once you reached Sapi Island, you will see thousands of fishes welcoming you at the Jetty. The breathtaking views; the blue sky, white sandy beach, greenforest and crystal clear sea water will amaze you. Do not worry about the food because Sapi Island has a cafe that opens daily from 8am-4pm. There are few activities that you can do in Sapi Island such as camping, snorkeling, sea-walking, flying fox and diving. You may need to rent the snorkeling equipments from the shops. Do not forget to bring extra cash cause deposits are needed!

Manukan Island

 

Manukan Island is the most visited by tourists in Sabah and it is 15 minute away from Kota Kinabalu city. Manukan has long stretch of white sandy beach. The space of this island is enough for everyone.  The water is so calm; less wave and suitable for non swimmers. Family will feel safe to let their children playing in the water. Besides, Manukan provides many facilities and accommodations for tourists such as toilet, restaurants and souvenir shop.

Signal Hill Observatory Platform

 

Signal Hill is the highest point in the Kinabalu City. It is also listed on one of the best places to visit in order to get a good view of the whole Kinabalu City. The concept is quite the same as Bukit Bendera Hill, Penang. You need to drive from Padang Merdeka in order to get to the airy deck. Once you reached, you will be able to see amazing views; the whole Tuanku Abdul Rahman Park. It opens daily from 8am till 12 am.

Rumah Terbalik, Kota Kinabalu

 

Rumah terbalik is the first upside-down house in Malaysia. This place is situated in Kampung Telibong, Batu 21, Jalan Telibong, Tamparuli (district of Tuaran). The interesting part is where you can experience the real culture of Sabah. You will be able to view a traditional Sabah Kampung House (fully furnished) in a new perspective. In other words, upside down!

Kota Kinabalu City Bird Sanctuary

The 24 hectares (60 acres) of mangrove forest is used for few purposes; educational, recreation, research, tourism and conservation and managed by a Non-government organization (NGO), Sabah Wetlands Conservation Society. Here you can see various types of interesting birds, plants and wildlife. There are almost 80 species of birds that have been identified at the sanctuary. The wildlife that live in the sanctuary are fiddler crabs, monitor lizards and mudskippers.

3D Art Gallery is located at level 2 of Oceanus Shopping Mall, KK. Art lovers will love this place because the paintings are all artsy. The paintings were painted by students of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

The Green Connection, Kota Kinabalu

 

The green connection is an aquarium and eco-theme park that is located in the city of KK. 1200 species of creatures (from the smallest insects to the unique marine life like sharks) find their home in green connection.
